Missions In Mexico

Our Ministry

Our heart is to emphasize prayer in ministry. It comes from the belief that we are helpless unless God breaks through to us and others. Prayer acknowledges our need as well as His supremacy and sufficiency. Andrew Murray summed it up well when he said, “We understand then that our true aim must not be to work much; and have prayer enough to keep the work right, but to pray much and then to work enough for the power and blessing obtained in prayer to find its way through us to men.”

We have long had a desire to share the gospel of Christ with those who are open to the message. Through the years this has included evangelism through: relationship building, Bible study, tract distribution, acts of service, prayer outreach, and door to door sharing. We hope to use these experiences as part of the team. Although not necessarily gifted in this area we ask God to make us instruments in His hand to lead others to Christ.

Being in another country and in a foreign culture is often like living in a fish bowl. It is impossible to go out your door and not be an ambassador of reconciliation. Living life is part of being a missionary. So, when you go to the corner grocery, drop off laundry, pay bills or spend time in the park you’re reflecting the life of Christ. Hospitality is something we have practiced and enjoyed for many years; and in a culture that values relationships, we expect many opportunities.

Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Because of this mandate we will be making disciples as we go. This will take place at all levels as we follow-up on those who become Christians, mentor them as they mature in the faith and provide leadership training for those who desire to be in ministry leadership.

Our ministry will actually begin in Cuernavaca located 45 minutes from Mexico City. This city has been established as an international center for language, culture and art. We will be there much of the first year attending the Spanish Language School at Universidad Internacional. (Website: http://www.uninter.edu.mx/spanish) The great thing about Cuernavaca is that it is known as “the city of eternal spring” because of its year round mild climate.
