Prayer Letter Archives

April 2006 .:. Harer Family Prayer Letter

April 15, 2006

We have lived in a whirlwind as we make final preparations for our departure to Mexico. Just in the last couple of weeks we have sorted our belongings, packed our home, bought a van, met with a lawyer, taken care of last minute business, said farewells… Our plan is to leave on Monday in order to spend time with family before crossing the border on May 4th.

It is amazing what it takes to get to the field and causes us to respect all those who have gone before. (We are sure to ditto that when we begin to experience living in another country.) It also causes us to stop and ponder, “Now exactly why are we going?”

We are going because this is His leading in our lives. Our decision to go is not based on a whim or an over romanticized view of missions but on the confidence that this is God’s will for our family. Over and over again in many ways He has confirmed this direction. Now we put ourselves in the hands of a faithful God whose grace is as high as the heavens and whose mercy extends to all generations.

We are going because Jesus told His disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations.” God has always loved the world and still does. He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Hudson Taylor once asked, “When will God’s people stop throwing the great commission in the waste paper basket?” In light of the 6 billion people in the world it seems to be a legitimate question.

We are going to be the presence of Christ in Mexico. We are convinced that when our lives and ministries focus on Christ, exalt Him as Lord, appropriate our position in Him, and are saturated with His Word He will display His glory among the nations.

If you would stop and hold the ropes in ten minutes of fervent prayer for the following requests we would be encouraged and blessed:

1) Pray for the Lord’s hand in all the beginning details of house, neighborhood, first impressions, business, friends, and Christian fellowship.

2) Pray for the transitions of Daniel, Maria, and Christina. Pray for their spiritual growth and attitudes. Pray for Mexican and American friends.

3) Pray that we would be able to establish a spiritual beach head from the beginning that will enable freedom for the Spirit’s work. “We wrestle not against flesh and blood…”

4) Pray that God would bring a Mexican spiritual leader to salvation that would result in great fruitfulness for Christ.

Remember a short weekly prayer update called “Rope-Holders” is also available. Contact us at ken@kneelingwetriumph.com if you are interested.
