Cuernavaca to Puebla
The last time we corresponded with you we were in Portland for a month of cultural training. Since then our lives have taken a new turn as we have moved from Cuernavaca to Puebla. Here are answers to some questions that will give you an idea of things: What is your house like? All 13,000 houses in this new community are built on the same plan – 10X32 ft for each floor. What is everyone excited about? The girls having their own bedrooms; lots of places to play soccer; being close to teammates; the Italian Coffee Company in our neighborhood; better opportunities to know our neighbors; seeing the hand of God in new ways; not having scorpions What will you do in Puebla? Initially we will continue to work on language and culture in the context of our neighborhood. Eventually we will begin to facilitate study of the Bible. We hope to bring a focus of family, hospitality, and prayer in all we do. I often take coffee around to various locations in the area and give "a free cup of coffee in the name of Christ, my Savior." It is well received and I believe the Lord is using it to open doors. One of those places is a plaza of small stores where I'm getting to know some of the store owners. Frelan is a restaurant owner who has been especially friendly. When I say restaurant think of a small hole- in-the-wall with three tables where they sell excellent tamales. Recently I have been reflecting on why God has us here when there are so many others that are more gifted. The answer came in the form of Scripture, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness…That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.’” There’s the answer - “my power is made perfect in weakness.” But is there something more here, a grain of truth that challenges my spiritual perception? Yes, it’s wrapped up in that little word – delight. It's the word that turns my questioning on its head and gives room for His power to rest upon me. Oh, for the grace to delight! We do appreciate your prayers in all these things. Ultimately we are here to seek the Lord and to be used as His instrument in the ways of His leading and choosing. He is the focus of our attention and affections. Therefore we are expecting Him to do things among us that are impossible in our weaknesses. It's good to be in a position to live by faith and trust. Your tenacity to hold the ropes is forever appreciated. Here are some things that you can pray about: 1) Christ will present Himself through our family supreme and sufficient 2) Claudia, Frelan, Jorge´, Miguel, Erika, and many others who need the Lord 3) Our children will be an Isaiah 26:8 generation 4) The unexpected, unleashed unexplainable, unprecedented movement of God 5) Balance and wisdom in it all
In Christ Alone,
