Believing that the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, it delights our heart to enter His presence and worship Him.

Concerning worship John Piper tells us, “True worship comes from people who are deeply emotional and who love deep and sound doctrine. Strong affections for God rooted in truth are the bone and marrow of biblical worship.”

We have discovered that the greatest resource in worship is the Scriptures themselves. Our worship is enhanced by using biblical expressions, names, phrases and portions as our guide. Psalm 113:3 says “From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised.”

It is so easy to reduce corporate worship to music and singing. And while that is an intricate part of worship it is much more. The following ideas are offered to bring a refreshing focus on Christ in our corporate worship.

1) Read lengthy Scripture passages
2) Read responsively (worship leader/church; men/women; first section/second section; reader-1/reader-2/reader-3)
3) Write and read an original Psalm (invite the church to write one)
4) Explain the worship passage by the worship leader
5) Read a prayer (Book of Common Prayer; Devotional Prayers-Henry Thorton)
6) Read a prayer in unison
7) Read a passage from a devotional writer that brings us to worship (A.W. Tozer; John Piper; Max Lucado; Oswald Chambers; John Eldredge; J.C. Ryle; Jonathan Edwards; C.H. Spurgeon; Isaac Watts; Andrew Murrary)
8) Spend time in silence
9) Pray prayers of worship (Elders; deacons; worship leader(s); saints of all ages)
10) Pray sentence prayers among the assembly
